  Chief Returning Officer  

 

We are looking for a Chief Returning Officer to fill the role from Jan-April 2020, likely starting their transition during December. The roles main priorities during this time will be to run the B.Tech Rep & Presidential Elections, chair MES Council meetings, update the MES Policy Manual and Constitution to reflect all changes made this year, and run the General Elections. There will be lots of support coming into the role but strong candidates that have a good understanding of the MES will be appreciated. 

 

In order to hold the position of CRO you must have previously held an elected position on the MES, and you cannot have another position in the MES.

  MES Presidential Nominations  

The MES President Elections are coming up and nomination forms to run are due December 8th at 5:00pm. Being MES President gives you the ability to shape the vision and plans of the McMaster Engineering Society and is an exciting opportunity to make an impact on your community. Moreover, the position allows you to gain skills in leadership, team management, and more. The role is open to all 3rd year and above Faculty of Engineering undergraduate students. Submit your completed nomination forms to the CRO Mailbox (found in the DW Lounge on the first floor of Hatch) by 5:00pm on December 8th. If you have questions you can reach out to the current President (president@macengsociety.ca) or the Chief Returning Officer (cro@macengsociety.ca).

MES President Roles and Responsibilities

 

The summary of the roles and responsibilities is below. For the complete list check out the MES Policy Manual under the President section. 

 

  1. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the MES. 

  2. Enforces compliance with the MES’s policy manual, procedures, and constitution. 

  3. Supervises all activities of the MES and all affiliated committees. 

  4. Responsible for short and long range plan of the MES. 

  5. Works with the MES Council to develop their goals.

  6. Responsible for approving all MES events. 

  7. Attend monthly meetings with the Dean of Engineering. 

  8. Supervises: All the VPs, the Co-OCs, the CRO, the Culture Coordinators, and the Equity and Inclusion Officer.

  MES B.Tech. Rep Nominations  

 

The MES B.Tech. Rep Elections are coming up and nomination forms to run are due December 8th at 5:00 pm. Being B.Tech. Rep is a great opportunity to impact our community and represent your peers. B.Tech. Rep Roles and Responsibilities

 

The summary of the roles and responsibilities is below. For the complete list check out the MES Policy Manual under the Program Representatives section. 

 

  1. Act as liaison between the MES and the BTA (this includes taking on an active role within the BTA). 

  2. Keep the MES informed of program or program club issues and concerns. 

  3. Advertise all MES Events and activities and actively encourage participation in MES activities.

  4. Serve as a representative on the MacLAB Board of Directors (if needed). 

  5. Organize Ratboy soccer team for B.Tech. 

  6. Report to the AVP Clubs & Sponsorship.
