WW2022 Schedule:

 a message from your co-oc's

Hey you! Class of 2026, 2027, 2028… HOW ARE YOU FEELIN!? We hope you’re excited as we are to have you here with us in Mac Eng. We’re your Co-Orientation Coordinators, which is just a mouthful of a way to say we’re the planners for your first, most fabulous week at McMaster! Get on your reading glasses and get ready to take some notes because we are about to throw some wisdom your way.

We’d first like to start by congratulating every single one of you. After the past few ~unprecedented~ years, you have found yourself at the best University in the best Faculty, if we do say so ourselves. As you start the next chapter of your life in B.Tech., Computer Science, iBioMed or Engineering 1, you are joining the #FireballFamily. It’s hard to describe the family that is Mac Eng in words alone, but it is our top goal to show you during Welcome Week!

And by now you might be wondering, what the heck even is Welcome Week? And to put it simply, Welcome Week is about meeting other first years as well as upper year students (AKA redsuits), who are here to support you both throughout the week and the rest of the year. The redsuits are a group of ~150 students who can be identified in their red coveralls, and it is our goal to create a welcoming space for all of you to be yourselves and thrive as you start an exciting but intimidating new journey.

We offer events for everyone, and your Welcome Week is absolutely up to you to make it your own! There is no pressure to enjoy every single event we are offering this week, although we do encourage you to make it out to the ones that speak to you! Your experience here in Mac Eng will go far beyond Welcome Week alone, but we hope to help prepare you for what’s to come, both through fun events with opportunities to meet new people as well as panels & presentations to share resources and prepare you for your academics.

We are beyond excited to introduce you to the community that will be here for you to support you and guide you through the next 4-7 years of your life! We hope to see you at Welcome Week, or if not, sometime during your time here at Mac! Mwah! <3

I would like to personally welcome you to the Fireball Family. The endless friendships, opportunities and experiences you build will be plentiful and lifelong. You are now part of an inclusive and supportive community. Throughout your undergraduate journey, the McMaster Engineering Society (MES) will be here for you through our clubs & teams, intramural sports, academic support, wellness, advocacy, social events, and many unique and memorable ways.

You’ve found our website; feel free to explore and look around. This is your central place to learn about us, what’s happening in the community, and ways to get involved. We also post all of our events and opportunities on Instagram, so check us out @macengsociety.
